The rear brake light fits in our Penthouse Top and is used as a 3rd brake light on the vans.
Bought a replacement in the past and it was the size of the original . This one was smaller length wise and didn't cover the screw holes in the pop top. Luckily, was able to interchange parts and make it work.
I'm glad SMB offers this replacement, as my original light had gotten wet inside and completely corroded. It was a fairly straightforward replacement and had all the necessary parts. You will need to be comfortable splicing wires and doing a bit of drilling in the side of the new light to do the replacement on your own. I added some silicone over the openings on the front of the light to hopefully keep this one drier on the inside.
This light fit my F250 penthouse perfectly. The key to asking out the old light and putting in the new one is to pop the penthouse. After doing that everything can be accessed easily. The light is NOT sealed so I had to apply sealant all around it to prevented it from rusting out like the old one. That is the reason for just 4 stars.
Thanks for shipping it so fast. The install was easy. I put masking tape around the lens and inside to caulk the lens in with clear silicone. Looks brand new again. My Sportsmobile is an 08 Ford, and I get compliments all the time. Love it. Thanks for everything Sportsmobile!
Mine rusted out after 6 years of use.
I thought it was just a brake light out, but when I opened it up and all the metal had crumbled into orange dust from exposure to water (and probably beach salt in my case). I wouldn't buy this again.
Well it's the same crappy light that rusted internally beyond imagination because the lense does not seal and lets moisture in. My solution: I coated the interior metal parts with liquid electrical goo, then siliconed the lense to the body of the light so it won't leak. Have to replace the whole unit if the bulbs go out but I figure I'll get way more time out of it with it sealed.
