Awning Bracket for Fiamma - Sportsmobile Penthouse - Ford/GM

(7 reviews) Write a Review

These brackets are used when installing a Fiamma Awning to your van using the rain gutters.  The brackets come with all the necessary hardware to perform the install and work with the Sportsmobile Penthouse top. This bracket works on Ford/GM vans.

*The brackets will not work with passenger vans with windows due to no mounting location.

I just put the awning on and when I went to roll the awning up , I did not realize that you had to have 2 people to roll it up! One person cranking it and one person holding the weight of the awning. I bent all 3 brackets and now have to replace them! If I didn't already drill into the side of the van I would have gone a different route. Sportsmobile should should post that this is a 2 person project! One time use and $120 mistake!

    Awning Mounting Brackets

I used these mounts to put a ARB awning on my GMC Savana van. Worked great, just added some holes from mounting to the ARB. Seems like a solid setup.

    simple and efective

Simple and effective mounting system for your awning. There is some drilling to be done but nothing to complicated. It would be nice if bit sizes were listed so there was no guess work on my end. Some simple instructions would be nice too for the money they cost.

Needs more to protect your van

I have these awning mounts for my Ford van, and while the mounting brackets themselves are great -- strong and durable finish -- the manner in which the rear & middle brackets (the wide ones pictured above) attach to the van is a poor design.

The bottoms of these brackets bolt right onto the sheet metal, so any awning motion will translate into sheet metal flex on your van, eventually leading to cracks in your paint as they alternately push and pull on the side of your van. If you do buy these awning brackets, and plan on spending any time driving rough roads, consider fabricating something to spread the load from the bottom of the rear and middle brackets so the bolts don't cause to pressure points on your sheet metal.

The front bracket is great, with a solid attachment point.

    I like it but....

The brackets are nice. But it didn't come with the correct hardware nor any directions.
Lucky I don't mind doing any mods to my personal van.
So if you don't mind drilling 5 big holes into the side of your van then the brackets are a go. The location is the correct height as well.
All in all I would buy it again. And if they would have provided directions and correct hardware...maybe 5 stars???
